This is almost a final version. All the hard stuff, like recording and rerecording and fixing up mistakes, is done. Now it mostly just needs the simple stuff–tweaking the levels, panning, and fixing the compression so it isn’t so noticeable. The final version will probably be done by the end of next week.

We had been hoping to get our demo/EP finished by the end of the year, but that’s obviously not going to happen. I think that we can definitely have it done by summertime next year, though.

We also have a studio recording of “older” now. This one will need a lot more work than “low tide,” unfortunately. We recorded with entirely too much distortion, so it’s difficult to hear exactly what the guitars are doing, so we will probably need to re-record that to get it to sound right. The vocals also sound kind of off to me. It might just be the mic I was using. I had hoped it would be a better vocal mic, but it might not work out like I wanted it to. Eventually there will be drums and a bass part, but not quite yet.

Formerly known as “tropical instrumental,” we now have a studio recording of our song “low tide.” This is an extremely rough mix. Eventually there will be drums, though we haven’t decided on the nature of those drums (this song might end up part techno). I have to figure out the proper mix of the acoustic and the guitar it is copying. We might end up re-recording all of it sans delay so we can just run it all through one delay to make sure the timing is right, but we’ll see. For now, it is what it is.

We’ll be performing at the last open of the year at American University tomorrow (Thursday) night at 8pm in the Battelle Atrium. We’ve got one more song we haven’t played there live yet and the other will probably be a repeat. Please come out and support us! We are trying to start playing as an opening band at real shows, but we haven’t had any gigs yet.

We had a long, productive recording/jam session on Sunday, so there will be some new studio tracks posted shortly. Right now we’re pretty busy with school, so they won’t be up until at least next weekend.
