In our constant quest to make ourselves as omnipresent as possible, we have launched a page at purevolume: http://www.purevolume.com/technicians. That means that you can now find our stuff here, there, and at MySpace and facebook. Now no one can say that we’re hard to find online.
Now that we’ve got three songs done, we’re pretty close to where we want to be in terms of getting a demo out. We’d like to get at least two more done, then we will send everything off to be mastered. At that point, we will open up a new section of our web site where you can pay a small fee to download the higher quality versions of the mp3s. I may even offer the downloads as uncompressed audio files, but I have to work out the details and figure out what most people would actually want. I’m guessing most people would just prefer higher quality mp3s instead of wav files they have to compress themselves. If you’ve got an opinion one way or another, please leave a comment so I know.
In other news, we recently acquired a new piece of gear that should help us make our shows a little more awesome. We also entered ourselves into DC101’s Last Band Standing competition. I’m not real clear on the details, but it sounds like they pick 14 bands to compete for a spot as the opening band at Chili Cook-Off this year. If we make it, we’ll be sure to let you know so you can come out and support us!
Hey kiddos, “now that we’re home” is now available for listening on our little flash player or for download on the download page. Enjoy.

Here is our latest song, as performed live at Relay for Life this past weekend. It’s not the greatest performance, and it might sound a little screwy because my computer decided to mess it up, but it should be good enough for you to get the general idea.
I just finished some tweaks to our web site. Rather than separate blog postings for all of our upcoming shows, I have created a calendar that will list all of them. You can subscribe to the calendar if you want.
I have also added a donation button to the downloads page. Donations are purely voluntary, but please understand that recording equipment costs money and we can use all the help we can get. I am also working on a system where donations will allow you to download higher quality mp3s of the songs (or maybe even uncompressed files). While that system is not yet in place, if you make a donation now and include your user name and e-mail for this web site, I will keep your information in a list so that you won’t be denied access later on. The amount of your donation will determine how many songs you are allowed access to, similar to other online music stores (though you will not be required to download a specific song).

Here is a fairly complete version of “now that we’re home.” I can’t call it finished yet because there are still some timing issues to work out and a lot of mixing left to be done, but the various parts are all recorded now. It’s starting to sound pretty good, if I do say so myself.
Technicians will be performing the late shift at Relay for Life at American University on March 21 sometime between 2 am and 3 am. The event starts on March 20 at 8 pm. You have to sign up for the event to get in, which costs $10, but it’s for a great cause, so you should show up anyway! More information about Relay for Life is available here:

We will be performing as our full band and are planning on playing a couple new songs, so come show your support!
I have decided that, with a rerecording of the lead guitar, “tell her” is now officially finished. It can now be accessed via the music player or you can download it to listen to on the go.

We now have a fairly good recording of “now that we’re home.” The timing still needs to be cleaned up a little bit and there are a couple minor parts I would like to add in, but otherwise it is coming along quite nicely.
