I just finished some tweaks to our web site. Rather than separate blog postings for all of our upcoming shows, I have created a calendar that will list all of them. You can subscribe to the calendar if you want.
I have also added a donation button to the downloads page. Donations are purely voluntary, but please understand that recording equipment costs money and we can use all the help we can get. I am also working on a system where donations will allow you to download higher quality mp3s of the songs (or maybe even uncompressed files). While that system is not yet in place, if you make a donation now and include your user name and e-mail for this web site, I will keep your information in a list so that you won’t be denied access later on. The amount of your donation will determine how many songs you are allowed access to, similar to other online music stores (though you will not be required to download a specific song).

Here is a fairly complete version of “now that we’re home.” I can’t call it finished yet because there are still some timing issues to work out and a lot of mixing left to be done, but the various parts are all recorded now. It’s starting to sound pretty good, if I do say so myself.

Technicians will be performing the late shift at Relay for Life at American University on March 21 sometime between 2 am and 3 am. The event starts on March 20 at 8 pm. You have to sign up for the event to get in, which costs $10, but it’s for a great cause, so you should show up anyway! More information about Relay for Life is available here:

We will be performing as our full band and are planning on playing a couple new songs, so come show your support!

I have decided that, with a rerecording of the lead guitar, “tell her” is now officially finished. It can now be accessed via the music player or you can download it to listen to on the go.

We now have a fairly good recording of “now that we’re home.” The timing still needs to be cleaned up a little bit and there are a couple minor parts I would like to add in, but otherwise it is coming along quite nicely.

We have now started recording “now that we’re home.” So far, it sounds pretty good, but it’s not in any sort of shape to upload yet. We’ve also got another new song in the works, but we just started writing it and haven’t gotten very far yet. It shaping up to be pretty good so far, though, so expect to hear more about it soon.

Now you can hear a very rough recording of our new song, tentatively titled “now that we’re home.” This is a quick recording we did during practice just to get a feel for how it would sound to an audience. Enjoy!

Technicians will be performing at the AU Democrats inauguration party this Friday, January 23. The party starts at 7:30 pm and goes until about midnight. There are two bands before us, so we go on sometime around 10:00. The event is being held at the South Korean Embassy, so you’ll need a ticket (available free through the AU Dems) and you have to dress up a bit. We’ll be playing a 4-song set that includes a brand new song we just finished writing about a week ago. Hope to see you there!

This is almost a final version. All the hard stuff, like recording and rerecording and fixing up mistakes, is done. Now it mostly just needs the simple stuff–tweaking the levels, panning, and fixing the compression so it isn’t so noticeable. The final version will probably be done by the end of next week.
We had been hoping to get our demo/EP finished by the end of the year, but that’s obviously not going to happen. I think that we can definitely have it done by summertime next year, though.

We also have a studio recording of “older” now. This one will need a lot more work than “low tide,” unfortunately. We recorded with entirely too much distortion, so it’s difficult to hear exactly what the guitars are doing, so we will probably need to re-record that to get it to sound right. The vocals also sound kind of off to me. It might just be the mic I was using. I had hoped it would be a better vocal mic, but it might not work out like I wanted it to. Eventually there will be drums and a bass part, but not quite yet.
